Self-Defense Part 1: Awareness & Prevention

The first step in self-defense is understanding the risks and learning how to avoid danger before it happens. In this classroom-based course, we focus on the realities women and girls face, from intimate partner violence and stalking to harassment, workplace violence, and assault in public spaces.

You’ll learn:
How to recognize potential threats and trust your intuition
Safety strategies for home, work, and public spaces
How to set boundaries and respond to harassment
Practical de-escalation techniques to avoid confrontation

This course is designed to empower women and girls (ages 12+) with the knowledge and confidence to take control of their personal safety. Whether you’re on campus, at work, or in your community, awareness is the foundation of self-protection.

Self-Defense Part 2: Physical Defense & Combat Tactics

Most encounters will be non-lethal. When avoidance isn’t an option, knowing how to fight back is critical. This hands-on session teaches you how to strike an attacker, deter aggression with aggression, and use body mechanics to outmaneuver a larger opponent. You’ll practice powerful techniques to break free from common holds, escape chokeholds, and defend against real-world threats, including sexual assault. We focus on leveraging natural reflexes, speed, and technique over brute strength, ensuring that anyone—regardless of size or strength—can effectively protect themselves.

Our expert-led instruction ensures you leave feeling stronger, more capable, and prepared to protect yourself when it matters most. This program is best for women and girls ages 12+.
